About Dr Gatt
Dr Andre Gatt is a Consultant General and Paediatric Radiologist and co-founder of LifeScan in Naxxar, where he is the resident radiologist and leads the clinic's full range of medical imaging services.
He graduated in medicine from the University of Malta in 2003 and completed seven years of specialist radiology training within the NHS in Scotland. Appointed Consultant Radiologist in 2012, he has over 14 years of consultant experience, including more than 12 years leading paediatric imaging services at tertiary level.
His practice covers adult and paediatric ultrasound, with particular interests in men's health, breast and newborn imaging; breast imaging including 3D mammography (tomosynthesis); DEXA bone density and body composition; X-ray; and image-guided procedures such as ultrasound-guided biopsy. He also arranges CT and MRI scans through a partner imaging clinic and reports them personally.

Can Dr Gatt arrange and report a CT or MRI scan?
Yes. LifeScan does not have a CT or MRI scanner on site, but Dr Gatt can arrange your scan at a partner imaging clinic and report it personally. Email your request to radiology@lifescan.mt with your referral letter attached. A referral is required for health insurance claims and is strongly recommended for your safety; if you do not have one, the team will advise on the right next step before any scan is arranged. Your written report is emailed to you and to your referring doctor.
Can Dr Gatt give a second opinion on a scan done elsewhere?
Yes. If you have CT, MRI, X-ray or ultrasound images from another hospital or clinic, including abroad, Dr Gatt can review them and provide a formal written report or second opinion. Book a radiology consultation to arrange this.
Do I need a referral for a scan?
Most scans can be booked directly online without a referral. If your doctor has given you a referral letter, please bring it with you. However, if you plan to claim on health insurance, your insurer may require a referral letter from your GP or another doctor who is not the radiologist you are seeing, so please check with them first.
